The military theory is a reasoning applied to the conduct of war. It is determined according to our capabilities and to the available means (terrain, economy, political environment) once we do an analysis of these, we establish the objectives based on the political purpose, «What we want to achieve», if the interests in dispute justify the risks we undertake when waging war, then we agree to it, otherwise, we remain at peace, because war is dangerous a game.

«If we read history with an open mind, we cannot fail to conclude that, among all the military virtues, the energetic conduct of war has always contributed most to glory and success, but everything takes a different shape when we pass from abstractions to reality. In the former, everything must be subject to optimism, and we must imagine the one side as well as the other striving after perfection and even attaining it. Will this ever take place in reality?.»

War is not an end in itself, war is a means to an end. Clausewitz explains it in a broader way: War is nothing more than a duel on a broader scale, it is the continuation of politics by other means, it is not a political act, but a true political instrument, a continuation of political relations, it is an act of violence that compels the enemy to submit to our will.
It is a medium where there is no point in studying the moral act, it is not legitimate or illegitimate, and it will be or will not be, depending on the faction that studies it.

In order for the opponent to submit to our will, we must place him in a position more disadvantageous than that of the sacrifice we demand and persuade him that such a situation will not be transitory. Hitting the enemy in such a way as to gain access to what you are seeking in times of peace is the chalice that is going to take over all armed conflict.

The strategy is a system of maneuvers, it is more than a simple science, it is the transfer of knowledge from life to practice, the improvement of an original course of action, according to constantly changing situations. The strategy is the use of the encounter to achieve the objective of the war, therefore it must print a purpose in all military action, purpose that must agree with the objective of the war, the strategy outlines the war plan, and for this purpose add a series of acts that will lead to this purpose.

Tactic constitutes the teaching and use of military encounters in encounters. The strategy is a plan of action, the tactic is to direct the forces for a specific battle. All war is waged in a political, economic context, with a certain technological and cultural profile, this will influence how it is distributed as it develops, adapting to the times and needs of the battlefield, the war obeys different profiles at every moment As an element of politics, it always behaves the same way, on the battlefield if it differs enough according to the scenarios, the temporality and the historical moment that unfolds.
